Heather, Sescie, Ceelo & Kaya Comment by Heather, Sescie, Ceelo & Kaya on July 10, 2008 at 12:49pm
I adopted a special needs Kaya on May 17, 2008! She is a teeny tiny chihuahua estimated to be 5 years old. In her previous life she had a "tail wrenching" episode which caused hind area nerve damage. Although she can walk fine, she doesn't have the normal sensations to go potty. So she wears doggie panties in the house. She is just a little love and enjoys lounging in a sunny spot in the house.

You could say our 2 dogs were adopted twice. Our daughter got Wyatt, the GSP, about 5 years ago from a GSP rescue group, and one of our sons got Belle, the Lab mix, about 5 years ago from an animal shelter. In the past year, both of their circumstances changed so that they could no longer have their dogs with them, and (voila!) my husband and I became the proud owners of our 2 grand dogs. We love them both dearly, and are they ever spoiled!

We rescued Bailey from the shelter in Orange and I can't believe what joy and love she has brought to our lives. She was only a baby when we saw her at the pound, we knew she was the one. We had to leave her so she could be spayed but we picked her up 2 days later and she has been healthy and happy since then. I'm not sure what her life was like for the first 3 months but I can assure you that the rest of her life she will be spoiled and well taken care of. She has become a part of our family in the little bit of time that we have had her. She is smart and we had her potty trained in 1.5 weeks, she sits on command and is learning to shake right now. I could go on and on but I should stop for now.

I foster for San Diego Pit Bull Rescue and I want to keep each and every one of them. Please check out the website sandiegopitbullrescue.com if you are interested in adopting.

Thank you all for adopting. All dogs need a good home and lots of love :-)

Diego (Chi) was captured by Animal Control while roaming the streets of East LA. He was taken to a kill shelter when the wonderful people at Paws for Cause rescued him. I saw his picture on petfinder.com and fell in love. He was a holy terror for the 1st six months and then off and on for about a year... Well, it has been 4 years this month and I have the greatest little Chi ever! He LOVES his big sister Jasmine (Dal) and follows her everywhere. I have created a monster, a cuddle monster that is! He has told me he much prefers his life in San Diego with designer Juicy clothes and frequent cookie trips to Muttropolis to his previous life on the mean streets of E. L.A., although he still thinks he is Gangster!

Molly and Wrigley Comment by Molly and Wrigley on June 19, 2008 at 6:19am
Molly is a shelter rescue. I went to shelter after shelter looking for just the right dog - of course I wanted to bring them all home, for it just broke my heart to see all these homeless/family-less dogs. I found Molly when she was 2 years old in a shelter that was NOT a no kill. We bonded right away and I knew she was the one for me. I adopted her right away, but had to wait to take her home until she was spayed. When I picked her up from the vet, I asked them if they would take my picture with her - they were thrilled!

She was so excited to go to her new home and I could not wait for all our adventures. Molly has been the best and I love her more than words can say. I just can't believe someone gave her up.

My Boyfriend and I were looking to buy a basset hound. He was very against adoption. While talking to someone and with a lot of persuasion from me he decided that maybe adoption was better and that we could give a home to an animal who really needed one. So he had talked to someone about adopting a retired racing greyhound and we were all set to do that started cleaning the apartment making sure everything was a-ok so we could start the process. Well one day we had time before work so we stopped by the humane society just to look, we had gone through the first room of kennels when I being so full of giddiness and a.d.d. moments went into the next room full force ahead of he and my roommate I turned the corner and there was Whiskey the most adorable lemon basset I had ever seen. I went running back into the other room my heart racing to beg my counterparts to take him home with us. So we met him and fell in love I told my boyfriend there was absolutely NO WAY we were leaving without this dog. So we finished up our meet and greet started the paper work and about an hour later I was bringing home my new best buddy. 2 months later and we're still going strong!

Brother and Sister Husky-Lab Mix Dogs Are Losing Their Home!

Please Help! My friend is losing his home to foreclosure and desperately needs to find a home for his two precious dogs, BJ & Roxy, two 5-year-old brother/sister Husky-Lab mix dogs that are great with kids and other dogs. Their photo is attached. They need to remain together. The city they live in is Diamond Bar. The breed is a cross between husky and Labrador. Send me a message if you are interested in their contact info!

Ricky joined our family two years ago. He was a rescue from Tijuana. He was about 6 months old when we adopted him and as happy and goofy as can be. Although the first few months of his life must have been scary and lonely, living on the streets and scrounging for food, he remained open to human love and affection; both of which he gets a lot of at home. Many times I catch him looking at us with sincere love and thanks in his eyes; we are lucky to have him in our lives!
