Howling Hounds

Not all dogs know how to bark, so show off your howling hounds here. Siberian Huskies & Malamutes have so many traits that make them unique and beautiful (...and we'll admit - sometimes neurotic)!

do you think it qualifies as a date when my Lucie goes out and howls all nite with a coyote??? She seems addicted to it, and much happier when she is doing the howling!

Enzo is little mini pin rescue that chose me as his forever home in January. His is an older little guy, cute as can be. He sits up and howls when the fire truck sirens go by. It is too funny!

That is the thing about these rescue dogs isn't it ? We will never know completely what genetics influence them. But hey, hybrids are always hardier than purebreds.

My two girls are rescues, and I have cleared their energy many times. One night I was up late (1 am) firing a kiln outside, and the girls and a pomeranian I was house sitting were all outside. Gracie, my bigger Bichon (she is over 20 lbs) had her head down a hole, digging it out bigger to see what was there. An OWL flew in the yard and tried to pick her up by the butt. She came running in screaming and smelling like cat poop. I had to settle her down so I could see if she was hurt, and I was positive she was hurt the way she was acting. She would just settle down a little, then she would look over at Lucy, and lucy would start to cry again, cheeks puffing out, wailing. I finally got Gracie calmed down enough to look at her, and she had pooped-about 3-4 inches, and it was trapped between her body and her tail. She had dirt on her butt, but other than that was unharmed. My belief is that the owl had seen the other dogs, Lucy and Lulu the pomerarian walking around, and that Gracie looked smaller with her head down a hole. I will never forget that look on Lucy's face while she was crying. They definitely are ones of a kind

hi ann marie, a note on howling bichons, my boy joli blnd would do the same, head up like a coyote and go ohhhhhhhhhhh0hhhhhhh0hhhh. almost like a cry. when we left him on our boat friends around us always told us he howled the entire time you were gone! so there you are.

Okay- I adopted two "Bichons" in Sept. last year. I don't mean to complain, but one of them, the smaller one, Lucy, howls. She puts her head back nose up in the air and cries. She looks like one of those coyote sculptures, only she is curly white hair and 11 pounds. I may be wrong, but I don't think HOWLING is a bichon trait. I swear, it sounds just like she is crying sometimes. Any insight ?
