Hi Wendy!! Funny seeing you here! Are those your two fur kids? They are BEAUTIFUL. I'm on the market for another one, or two. Don't tell Grandma! They are the easiest dogs. I could have 10.... Oh heck, who is counting....Love this site! Love you more!

Hi Chris,

I do not show my pups however I did A LOT of research before getting my first Cavalier and know that these are a tough group of ladies (the breeders) but once they trust you, they will support you 100%. If you got your pup from a good breeder they should help you. If not do some research, talk to breeders and find one that can get you in touch with a good handler, teach you about advertising your pup, etc. They can't keep all show quality pups and do need someone that will take the dog and finish it; it only helps the kennel name. Just be forward about what you want and what your goals are. It isn't easy- take your time and find a breeder that is patient and willing to help you. You'll need to make it very clear that you aren't intending to breed Bryce or they will not be kind to you. (the bite is a big issue) During my search for my first Cavalier a breeder mentored me and befriended me; I didn't even buy a pup from her, she had none to offer, yet because my intentions were in the right place she has been a great contact over the years.

Hope this helps, and please email with any questions, or call me at the store!

Christopher Hendrix./ CHICO & BRYCE Comment by Christopher Hendrix./ CHICO & BRYCE on June 2, 2008 at 7:52am
Hello, I was wondering if you have thought about showing thru AKC at all? since we are the only members of the CKCS group, then its just you and I at this time that can speak about the Cavaliers. On the two I have, one is already neutered, (CHICO) Bryce, who is 6 months old is NOT neutered yet, but I feel I'm going to have to because he has a noticeable underbite and in judging that is a major flaw. I'm very interested in getting into showing, but don't know exactly how to start, I KNOW first I must get a puppy/dog that is show quality, but then after that, do you have any opinions on what my actions should be then, other than joining a local group in my area for Cavaliers? Thanks, Chris
