Muttropolis-A utopia for pets and their parents

I'm Going to be a German Shepherd Mom

I'm real excited.... on July the 4th, I'm going to add a 1 year old female German Shepherd to my family. When I say "my family", I mean my Border Collie, 5 cats, 10 Finches and a Parakeet.

I answered an ad in the paper and went to see her. A more loving dog you'd never want to see. Very calm and not cowardly.

My only concern is that I've had my Border Collie for 5 years and although she loves to play with dogs, I'm not sure how she's going to react to a dog coming inside the house to live. The Shepherd hasn't been spayed yet and just went through her first heat.

She's really gorgeous too.... and I need her for protection and more love.

Do you think we'll be OK?

Hi Louva!

Things are going well. The "girls" are getting along very well. I can sense that Freckles (BC) wants to be sure she maintains her secure position as dog of my heart and she does. At the same time, Hope (GS) is eager to bond with me. I've been spending lots of time with them both, playing fetch, etc.

Hope seems to be settling in well. Yesterday she barked at people outside the fence for the first time so she feels this is her home now and must protect it.

Not sure what a TT is. Toy Terrier? Let me know how the sleepover went. I bet they had fun!

Barb-
If things don't go perfectly smoothly, call me and we can clear the energy on the dogs and other animals so that there are no past fears that cause inappropriate actions in present time. I like to clear energy on every new pet just so you start out with a clean slate. Also, be a strong Pack Leader !!! They will respect your wishes- especially the border collie! Blessings, Ann

Hi Ann Marie!

They are doing extremely well. There isn't any negative energy. Both dogs have been raised with lots of love and it shows. Are you the same Ann Marie I know from ATP?

I AM a strong pack leader. I am firm but kind. I have already taught Hope not to get up on the couches, to come, sit and lie down. Plus, I think she's getting a good feel for what "NO" and "GOOD DOG" means.

Hope has been sleeping on a pallet on the floor right next to me. She's a very devoted dog and is bonding well with me! Freckles sleeps next to the door, where she always has.

Here are some pics of the doggies....
