That's exactly who I was going to go through! I did buy Lucy from a man who had bred his pair (although the male didn't have papers), and she was the "runt". My vet has a huge clientel of bichon owners, and she did tell me that Lucy was definitely a bichon (I had started to doubt when a vet tech from another vet clinic told me that she looked more like a maltese, and said she was probably a mix of bichon and maltese). I had many questions once Lucy was all mine (when we realized Lucy had bonded to me), and I contacted Barbara Stubbs. She was wonderful. She was the one who suggested that should I get another, I might consider a rescue. When I went to the dog show in Del Mar a couple of months ago, they (Fur kids) where there, and I decided then and there that I would adopt rather than buy (all of my cats are shelter/rescue kitties) when the time came. I hope you wouldn't mind if I ask questions--as you are much better versed on them than I am. I did research online, as well as purchase books--as I wanted to know as much about them as I can. I DO know, that I'm hooked on this breed!
I love the pics of your bichons, sweetest dogs. i consider another as a companion for porter, but then he has a clone like baby bro. hard to decide. id love about 5 dogs if i had room.
Wow, that's fantastic! If my daughter were to move out, I plan on getting another (Bichon), but will probably go through the local Bichon rescue group. Lucy is going to be two in September. I got her when she was eight weeks. Stacy, she is the love of my life--I don't know what I'd do without her.
Thanks! And you guys are quite cute too! Glad you have a new view on pits. And dog can be sweet as could be, there are just too many people out there that don't know the importance of raising them right getting the bad press!
I absolutely love this breed! I got Lucy as a gift for my daughter, however, she (Lucy) bonded to me--and she's been spoiled rotten ever since! I ended up adopting a min pin for my daughter (it was a better fit for her) on Valententine's Day at Muttropolis in 2007. How long have Bichon's "owned" you?
