What breed of pet(s) do you have?
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
I really enjoy having Cavaliers, in the past I have had 3 other Cavaliers who have each lived a long and happy life. In Feb. I decided that I wanted to get a Cavalier, (we had and still do at the time 2 American Hairless Terriers) and although I love them both, they are not the most affectionate dogs plus they considered another member of my family their master and I wanted another Cavalier because I am familiar with their breed. I first got Bryce at age 12 weeks, then Chico in March at 10 Months old. The reason I purchased Chico at the age he was is because of his championship bloodline, plus the fact the owner decided she didn't want to show him because her "handler" thought he might not win his Championship. To me that is not an important issue. Chico arrived to me very scared. I feel he had not developed any bond with his previous owners because they were busy with their other dogs. Only just now is he coming out of his shell, he still is extremely devoted to me, he follows me everywhere and wants to be with me at all times, but now he is getting better at being alone with the rest of my family. Maybe I will show him, maybe not, he is just very special. My Tricolor, Bryce is outgoing, fearless, and is totally comfortable with being alone. Any Cavalier owners out there I would love to hear from you as well as anyone else, I appreciate all the emails I have received, Chris

Hi Chris, our names are Matt and Jenna. And to answer your question...YES! Both our pups scoot =) all dogs actually do. Not to be too graphic....but when a dog is scooting it means their anul glands are filled and scooting will help relieve some of that pressure. Bigger dogs dont do it as much, because something as simple as sitting will express some of the stuff out of their anual glands....smaller dogs, like ours, they cant do it. You need to take them to the vet and ask them to express their anul glands. This is about $20. YOU MUST DO THIS! We didnt know about all this stuff, and our oldest tri, Layla had one of her anul glands pop (becuase so much fluids filled the sac that it just popped!)....and it was a LONG and painful (plus very expensive) recovery time. Scooting is a sign that the anul glands need to be expressed. High in fiber food also helps, because when their poop is harder, it expresses those glands.

Haha lots of info.....but defiantly be on top of it so nothing major happens. we get our pups done like once every other month.

I think Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are so adorable! I've always loved owning small dogs, even though you wouldn't know it by my current pair. :-)

This is Chico, my 11 month old Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, he is a very loving and loyal friend. BOTH his parents were AKC Champions, and one of his grandparents was as well. In my opinion he represents the Best and True standard of the Breed.
